Perimenopause is a distinct life phase from menopause, often under-appreciated & misunderstood. The experience of this special life stage can be richly supported by a better understanding of what is going on & applying the right nutrition & lifestyle focus. It's important to be educated & feel positive about this transition journey towards menopause.

Pranayama is an ancient method of breathing in yogic practice which draws our awareness deep inside ourselves. Today, similar breathing methods are known as 'Breathwork". This workshop focuses on traditional Pranayama techniques, as given in traditional Patanjali Yoga teachings.

Restorative Yoga postures (Asana) prepares the body, breath and mind for this work. This workshop will comprise of both restorative asana and supported, lying down Pranayama.

Muladhara - Root Chakra

Manipura - Solar Plexus Chakra

Vishuddi - Throat Chakra

Ajna - Third Eye Chakra

Sahasara - Crown Chakra

In this workshop, you will explore each of the seven chakras, learn how they impact your life, and discover specific yoga practices to balance and activate these vital energy centers.

The chakras are believed to be spinning discs or wheels of energy, located at key points of the subtle body which govern not only the function of our physical body and its systems but also govern our behaviour, emotions and desires.

Understanding each chakra and how it relates to our physical, emotional & energetical body, enables a much deeper connection to the experience and practice of Yoga.

For those of you who are new to the practice of Yin Yoga, expect a slow & quiet practice that contains mostly seated and floor-based postures, which are held for minutes rather than just a few moments. These longer holds will enable you on a physical level, to find a deeper release through the fascia, connective tissues, muscles and ligaments of the body.

At the same time these longer holds will invite you to bring your focus more and more inside, towards your internal world, where you will observe sensations, witness thoughts and emotions.

This workshop will contain the practice of yoga postures, meditation & mantra.

Coming together on Saturday 12th March, join Soulfit resident Senior Yoga teacher Calli Popham & Sound Meditation Practitioner Tamara Klien for an afternoon of pure deliciousness for the body, the mind & the soul.

Calli’s slow, fluid, playful & embodied way of teaching is a homecoming for the Self. Beginning with a slow & rhythmic flow & closing with a deep restorative wind down. Preparing your body to fully surrender & let go of anything that doesn’t serve you.

Once fully settled your cells will be bathed by an immersive sound orchestration guided by Tamara Klien. Her deeply relaxing sound bath is an invitation to radically slow down. Explore your subconscious being via the sound wave frequencies & binaural beats experienced through multiple Gongs, Tibetan & Crystal Singing Bowls.

This 2h session is open to all levels & requires no previous experience.

Yoga mats & blankets are provided, but we recommend you some extra layers/warm socks as body temperatures are known to drop in the deep meditative states reached in sound meditation. Most importantly, be sure to bring your energy, your open mind, your smile & your compassion!

Please avoid caffeine & alcohol prior to the session.

**IMPORTANT: Not suitable for anyone suffering from epilepsy, in the first trimester of pregnancy or carrying a pacemaker. If you’re tapering off any meditation/drugs & are unsure whether sound meditation is advisable, please check with your GP before booking.

National Iyengar Day FREE Talk & Class with Sallie Sullivan & Lindsay Barchan

As part of National Iyengar Yoga day, we are delighted to be hosting an event lead by one of the UK's senior Iyengar teachers Sallie Sullivan & our very own Lindsay Barchan.

This FREE event will launch with a 30-minute talk by Sallie as she shares her deep knowledge of Patanjali & postural yoga; the Definition of yoga, the causes of pain, & the Eight Limbs of Yoga.

It will then follow with a 45-minute class lead by Lindsay, aimed at anyone who is keen to practice & experience the very special Iyengar method of teaching on this national day.

The session will include an emphasis on alignment & technique, and will also include the teaching of extension & awareness of breathing, to feel & embody each of the asana's. She will also incorporate a sequence of sun salutations to warm the body up, before moving into some standing poses, with gentle forward bends & twists, before finishing off with some relaxation. Inversions may be offered to students with experience who wish to practise inversions.

The aim of this event is to give you a deeper insight into the roots of this incredible practice & to have the opportunity to experience a taster class taught by Lindsay who teaches at Soulfit on Wednesday mornings.
